[DEMUG] De-Photoshopping

I have a problem too. My Canon printer came bundled with Arcsoft's Photo Studio. A Photoshop it ain't .
 Actually I wound up with 2 Canon Printer's MP 600, & MP 810. I was going to sell the 600, but it has already come inhandy ina pinch. 
Problem. The newer version, won't make jpegs. ( It has the capacity to chose but will only save as Photo Shop file. This caused a great hassle when trying to enter a mural competition at  the Maine Arts COmmission. Their PC with A Photshop for Windows couldn't read the images I was sending. The Arcsoft tech converted them to jpegs and sent them back to me so I could get them to MAC, ( & he suggested I reinstall the software.) ( Prior to that, I did have a spot of trouble while loading pix from a nikon to I Photo, It grabbed images from the HD , instead of the camera,( ie. images from the IWord sales tour, &  I think it sucked up some of the  software which then got thrown away!)
The older Photo studio, ( installed in  to my IBook still makes jpegs.)
I have photoshop elements ( not yet installed) 
I need to be placing jpegs from scans into Quarkexpress 7., Illustrator X, & Corel Painter 7 ( I think)
Any suggestions for me?
