You can export them to the desktop, click on them once and then choose  
"get info" from the File menu
and then choose what you want to open it with.

desktop, but Photoshop still tries to open when I click on them.
Preview can't see them.  Oh yes, I saved many of them without the
.jpg tag, so have to manually rename them just to see them in iPhoto!

I can't justify buying a full version of Photoshop with the little I
would use it.

Any suggestions?
