Changing the display resolution in the system prefs (and then  
returning it my originalresolution) cleared up today's problem (as it  
does the dancing pixels.) Nevertheless, when you spend close to $2k,  
you don't feel like you shold constantly be fiddling with the settings.

This is the cinema display, a 30" and I don't know if it's HD.

not any more than I had before. And my harddrives often are turned off.
