Not sure where you wording comes from but the warranty online (what  
the call taker sent me to) addresses the chance that the customer  
might still have the original packaging.

will send you prepaid way bills (and if you no longer have the  
original packaging, Apple may send you packaging material) and you  
will ship the product to Apple’s repair service location in  
accordance with Apple’s instructions.

I did stay on the phone until they gave me everything I needed for  
the prepaid airbill over the phone. They were holding firm on having  
me wait for their box until I read this wording back to them.
